I know it has been a while since we updated this blog but that is because we
have been super busy.
June First Friday (this friday the 5th) is our group show Gay Mart! Get all
your gay supplies for celebrating your pride! We have Gay hats, and fanny
packs. We have binders and barrettes, and homosexual plants. We have fashion
for every boy and/or girl and also for every either or neither. We even have
tutus for you and your dog!!! It is going to be so Gay!!! Next Month the
amazing Sam MacKenzie.
June 13th: Drag-tastic performance at the E-room. We have tickets for $6
compare to $10 at the door.
Also Grants! We've gotten grants! We received a grant from the Bureau of
Planning in Portland for the Reclaimation Project we will be receiving money
for purchasing equipment to make notebooks and such out of reclaimed
materials such as unused paper and coil spirals from printing houses. Smitty
also received a grant to go to the National Puppet Festival in Atlanta
Georgia. But it wasn't full funding so your donations are ever so important
so we can get him there. And we had a good conversation on the phone with
the Pride foundation today. Cog is in the final rounds to possibly recieve a
grant to support the Cog factory!

l We now offer memberships! Only Cogs have access to special discounts and the Queer Artists Round Table (ART). During the monthly ART meeting we will have keynotes speakers about topics and issues we all struggle with as self-employed artists which is followed by a round table discussion about the topic. April’s topic is using videos and social networks for marketing. (4/2/9 from 10am to noon, you can sign up for membership then but please RSVP as space is limited.) l We are looking for Work Traders/ Volunteers! We are looking for artists who want to lead open studios, workshops, and classes. We also have a fund-raiser coming up that we are offering work trade (for performers and some techs). Anyone with Grant writing or Accounting skills is desperately needed. Finally we are looking for Photographers (especially those with experience with ghetto studio lighting), and Computer Geeks for a project. Email cog.pdx@gmail.com for more information.
The Collective of Geniuses (CoG) announced the CoG Factory will be commence with the February 6 group gallery show featuring artists: Finn Grey, Molly Jochem, Gigi Grinstad, Sam MacKenzie, Lorenzo Triburgo, Jack StockLynn, Marico Fayre, and Smitty Amabilis. The event will take place at 532 SE Belmont #202 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Killawattts .
The following months will include First Friday gallery openings for individual artists as well as two special events. The schedule features: Finn Grey in March, Molly Jochem in April, Gigi Grinstad in May, a Pride Show in June, Jack StockLynn in July, Sam MacKenzie in August, Marico Fayre in September, Lorenzo Triburgo in October, Smitty Amabilis in November, Queer Craft Show in December.
